*** The following is a reprint of our post from January 15th, 2013: ***

As you know, ZED will be releasing their sophmore offering, ‘Desperation Blues’ on May 21st, 2013. I’ve been fortunate enough to receive an advance copy, and I’m happy to report it’s ‘All killer and no filler!’

To help generate interest in their new record, ZED is making their first album, “The Invitation” available for free (digital download).

This is a limited time offering…so grab your copy while you can!

You can download ‘The Invitation’ digital album by following this link. Just click on the ‘Buy Now (name your price)’ link, enter $0 on the box, and enter your email address. You will receive a download link via email.

—-> Please feel free to reblog this post, share on Facebook, etc…we would really appreciate it!  Thanks!

ps: If you download the digital album, please consider joining the Street Team over here. It’s not required (and it doesn’t obligate you to anything) but we’d love to add you to our mailing list so we can keep you posted about the new album, tour dates, etc!

Our thanks to Craig Lociero of SpiralArms (guest columnist with Chris Harris of Gun Shy Assassin) for their kind words about ZED which appeared in the September 30th 2013 article, “Three Bands You May Not Know But Should.”

We’ve reached out to our metal and hard rock brethren across the land, asking that they contribute prose to our recent series of guest columns. We ran a recent series on Five Albums That Will Change You, and the response was overwhelming.

The topic is Three Bands You May Not Know About But Should, and we asked that each guest writer jot down a brief description of what makes each band worthy of our attention. Today, we are excited to continue this ongoing series with an entry written by Craig Lociero from SpiralArms.

One of the perks of being in a band with Tim Narducci is getting to hear some of the bands he produces. I could name a few, but ZED — hailing from San Jose, California — has a record that is available called Desperation Blues.

There is such a simple, crushing and majestic blues sound to this band! We’ve had the honor to share the stage with them on a number of occasions over the last year and they are getting better and better. ZED deserves to be heard!

As posted on The Ripple Effect:

I have yet to write an actual review of this album but rest assured, the music is good enough on it’s own that this little blurb should do just fine (for now). It’s hard to believe that I’ve been listening to this album a lot longer than it’s been released. Where does the time go? If you haven’t heard Desperation Blues, or the band’s debut The Invitation, you’re in for a treat. Modern hard rock that doesn’t suck. Hints of the influences mentioned above sprinkled with a shitload of awesomeness make up for a killer album. I think you’ll agree with me when I say that this album is deserving of year end top list material. Whether it’s the in your face “Skin and Bones” or the melodic album closer “The River,” you’re going to love this album.

Thanks for the kind words!

Here’s a ‘Desperation Blues’ promotional video featuring the ZED epic, ‘The River’ along with excerpts from the many great reviews the album has received. Please feel free to use the share buttons that appear below this post! Help spread the word by sharing this video on Facebook, and by sharing the video with your friends, fellow music fans, radio stations, posting on forums, etc!

I finally got to catch a live ZED show at Victory Lounge in Seattle on July 20th, and they did not disappoint! Had a great time hanging with the guys, and actually caught myself playing ‘air drums’ during The River. The venue was small, but the band was well received by those who stayed late enough to catch the show (there were 2 supporting acts, Trashcan Wizard and Greenriver Thrillers).

The true test of any band is the ability to deliver in a live setting – and I am here to tell you that ZED is the real deal! I can’t wait until the next time they’re in town. If you get a chance to see ZED perform live, don’t miss it!

Please log into your Amazon account (or create one if you don’t have an account, it only takes a minute) and then visit Amazon’s Desperation Blues page. It doesn’t need to be a lengthy essay or literary achievement, just a few words that tells readers how much you like the record, and that it rocks.

Radio CHU, a campus radio station operated by Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii has announced that the title track from ZED’s new record, Desperation Blues has charted #3 on their ‘Top 10 Loud Chart‘ for the week of June 17th, 2013. In addition, the same song charted #27 overall for the station’s ‘Top 30’ songs for the same week!

This follows ‘Desperation Blues charting #9 on Radio CMU’s ‘Top 10 Loud Chart’ for the week of June 3rd, 2013, #6 for the week of  May 27th 2013, and #6 for the week of May 20th 2013. It seems this song has charted on CUH Radio since the album was released, and has been steadily rising ever since!

Great news!
